Fixie, MTB or BMX? Meet the Bikes of Bicycle Extreme Rider 3D

A tour of the fixie, MTB and BMX in Bicycle Extreme Rider 3D: what each bike is made for, how to pick one, and a look at the camera views, all with pictures from the game.

The first thing you choose in Bicycle Extreme Rider 3D is not a map or a mode. It is a bike. A fixie, a mountain bike and a BMX can all roll through the same city, but they are built for different kinds of riding, and picking the one that matches your style makes the first hours a lot more fun.

This is a quick tour of the three bikes people ask about most, what each one is made for, and how to decide where to start. All the bike pictures below are straight from the game.

Fixie: the road-and-track bike

A fixie (fixed-gear bike) is the minimalist of the garage: drop handlebars, a narrow frame and, on the fancier builds, a solid disc rear wheel. In real life it is a favorite for city riding and track racing, and it makes a great-looking ride: clean lines, a sharp look and plenty of style.

Pick it if you like to cruise the city, weave through traffic and care about how your bike looks. It is also a nice starting point for customization, since the clean frame shows off your changes.

MTB: built for rough ground

The mountain bike is the heavy hitter. Big knobby tires, a long-travel fork and a sturdy frame are what you need when the surface gets rough or the jump is bigger than it looks.

Pick it if you like drops, big air and anything off the smooth road. If you are curious about the speed, control and power upgrades that make a bike feel your own, the customization guide covers them.

BMX: the trick bike

The BMX is small, light and quick to turn, with tall bars and a compact frame. It is the classic bike for stunts: backflips, wheelies and combos at the skatepark.

Pick it if the reason you are here is tricks. Park-style ramps and big jumps are what it was made for.

Which one should you start with?

If you want to... Start with
Cruise the city and look good doing it Fixie
Take on rough ground and big jumps MTB
Land tricks and flips BMX

Not sure? Try all three. Switching bikes is part of the game, and each one makes the same city feel different.

Two ways to see the ride

Whichever bike you pick, you can change the view. The game has a first-person camera, where you see the handlebars and the speed display, and a third-person camera that shows you and the bike. First person feels fast and close to the road; third person makes it easier to read a trick.

More than three bikes

The garage also includes road, race and time trial bikes, so there is something for riders who like speed on pavement as much as stunts. And you do not need a connection to enjoy any of it: career mode, stunts and the whole city also work completely offline, and you can race riders online when you want company.
